Terms Used In Indiana Code 23-14-31-41

  • authorizing agent: means a person legally entitled to order the cremation and final disposition of specific human remains. See Indiana Code 23-14-31-2
  • cremated remains: means all human remains recovered after the completion of the cremation of a human body or body part, including the residue of any foreign materials, nonmetallic casket material, dental work, or eyeglasses that were cremated with the human remains but excluding any prosthetic or medical device.   • funeral home: means a place that is licensed under IC 25-15 where:

  • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
   Sec. 41. If all of the recovered cremated remains will not fit in the receptacle that has been selected, the remainder of the cremated remains must be placed in a separate, additional container and returned to the funeral home or funeral director for return to the authorizing agent.
