Terms Used In Indiana Code 31-11-8-5

  • Common law: The legal system that originated in England and is now in use in the United States. It is based on judicial decisions rather than legislative action.
   Sec. 5. A marriage is void if the marriage is a common law marriage that was entered into after January 1, 1958.
