As used in this act:

(a) “Board” means the board of education of any school district, the board of directors of any interlocal cooperative composed of school districts, or the board of control of any area vocational-technical school.

  • Administrator: means any employee of a board who is required to hold a school administrator's certificate, or who is designated in Kan. See Kansas Statutes 72-2281
  • Board: means the governing body of any technical college or the institute of technology at Washburn university, and the board of trustees of any community college. See Kansas Statutes 72-2252
  • board of education: shall mean the board of education of any public school district. See Kansas Statutes 72-2215
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.

(b) “Administrator” means any employee of a board who is required to hold a school administrator‘s certificate, or who is designated in Kan. Stat. Ann. § 72-1134, or whose position the board determines to be administrative or supervisory in nature with responsibilities and remuneration comparable to those of certified administrators. The term administrator shall not mean or include a superintendent of schools.

(c) “Not renew the contract” or “nonrenewal of the contract” means that an administrator remains on duty to complete the term of a current contract but is not offered a contract for the subsequent contract, calendar or fiscal year.
