- Adult: means a person who has attained the age of 18 years. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
- Adult education: means education programs primarily operated for individuals beyond the compulsory school ages and administered by school administrative units. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
- Alternative learning: means an educational option that a public school or publicly supported program offers at-risk students by offering some combination of the following: alternative education programs; small class size; flexible scheduling; relevant alternative curricula and assessment; mentoring adults; skilled teachers; a focus on social, emotional and relationship skills; collaboration among home, school and social service agencies; and any other measures designed to accommodate the needs of at-risk students. - Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
- Applicant: means a person at whose request or for whose account a letter of credit is issued. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 11 Sec. 5-1102
- Area of sales responsibility: means the geographical area agreed to by the dealer and the manufacturer in the dealer agreement within which the dealer has the exclusive right to display the manufacturer's new recreational vehicles of a particular line make to the retail public. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1432
- Beneficiary: A person who is entitled to receive the benefits or proceeds of a will, trust, insurance policy, retirement plan, annuity, or other contract. Source: OCC
- Beneficiary: means a person who under the terms of a letter of credit is entitled to have its complying presentation honored. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 11 Sec. 5-1102
- Commissioner: means the Commissioner of Education or the commissioner's designee. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
- Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- Dealer: means a person, firm, corporation or business entity licensed or required to be licensed under Title 29?A, including a recreational vehicle dealer to whom a dealer agreement is offered or granted. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1432
- Dealer agreement: means an oral or written arrangement for a definite or indefinite period in which a manufacturer, distributor or wholesaler grants to a recreational vehicle dealer a license to use a trade name, service mark or related characteristic and in which there is a community of interest in the marketing of recreational vehicles or services related to recreational vehicles at wholesale, retail or leasing. - Department: means the Department of Education. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
- Issuer: means a bank or other person that issues a letter of credit, but does not include an individual who makes an engagement for personal, family or household purposes. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 11 Sec. 5-1102
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Lawsuit: A legal action started by a plaintiff against a defendant based on a complaint that the defendant failed to perform a legal duty, resulting in harm to the plaintiff.
- Letter of credit: means a definite undertaking that satisfies the requirements of section 5?1104 by an issuer to a beneficiary at the request or for the account of an applicant or, in the case of a financial institution, to itself or for its own account, to honor a documentary presentation by payment or delivery of an item of value. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 11 Sec. 5-1102
- Line make: means a specific series of recreational vehicles that:

See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1432 Membership: means active participation in the program of a school from the date of enrollment to the time the student withdraws or is absent from the school for 10 consecutive days for reasons other than illness. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 15001 New recreational vehicle: means a recreational vehicle that has not been previously sold to any person except a distributor or wholesaler or recreational vehicle dealer for resale. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1432 Nominated person: means a person whom the issuer:
(i) Designates or authorizes to pay, accept, negotiate or otherwise give value under a letter of credit; and
(ii) Undertakes by agreement or custom and practice to reimburse. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 11 Sec. 5-1102Record: means information that is inscribed on a tangible medium or that is stored in an electronic or other medium and is retrievable in perceivable form. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 11 Sec. 5-1102 Recreational vehicle: includes motor homes, travel trailers, fifth-wheel trailers and folding camping trailers. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1432 Sale: means the issuance, transfer, agreement for transfer, exchange, pledge, hypothecation or mortgage in any form, whether by transfer in trust or otherwise, of any recreational vehicle or interest in a recreational vehicle or of any dealer agreement related to a recreational vehicle and any option, subscription or other contract, or solicitation looking to a sale, or any offer or attempt to sell in any form, whether spoken or written. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1 Warrantor: means a person, firm, corporation or business entity, including a manufacturer or supplier, that provides a written warranty to the customer in connection with a new recreational vehicle or parts, accessories or components of a new recreational vehicle.
