For the purpose of providing mass transportation services wholly or partially within the municipalities comprising the district, the directors of a district may: [PL 1987, c. 737, Pt. 1. Powers over property. Take, purchase, hold, maintain, operate, lease, rent, mortgage and convey any real and personal property;

- Federal Government: means the United States of America or any agency or instrumentality, corporate or otherwise, of the United States of America. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 2001
- Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
- Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
- Personal property: All property that is not real property.

3. Private contracts. Enter into contracts with private companies; or

4. Government contracts. Contract with the Federal Government, State Government and municipal governments for donations, loans, grants, gifts or other assistance. The directors may agree in these contracts to be bound by all applicable provisions of federal, state or municipal laws, regulations and rules.
