  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
   The state or an agent of the state acting pursuant to a public health state of emergency declared under this act shall not be liable for any damages or loss incurred because of any action taken pursuant to an order issued under section 2.
