  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.   For the state fiscal year ending September 30, 2016, $250,000.00 is appropriated from the general fund to the department of treasury for the purpose of providing financial support for the organization and administration of any community district formed under this part during the fiscal year ending September 30, 2016. The state treasurer shall ensure that a portion of this money is allocated as a grant to be used to provide school board training to the initial elected members of the school board of the community district. This training shall be provided to each of these board members no later than 30 days after he or she takes office and shall address at least school board governance, public school financing, fiscal responsibility, and ethics.
