  • Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.    A quorum of the state board of education shall consist of a majority of the board’s members. An affirmative vote by the majority of the members serving on the board shall be required to transact business. The business which the board may perform shall be conducted in compliance with Act No. 267 of the Public Acts of 1976, being section 15.261 to 15.275 of the Michigan Compiled Laws. Public notice of the time, date, and place of the meeting shall be given in the manner required by Act No. 267 of the Public Acts of 1976. Process against the board shall be served on the chairperson or secretary.
