Terms Used In Michigan Laws 691.1343

  • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • Person: means an individual, corporation, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, limited liability company, association, joint venture, public corporation, government or governmental subdivision, agency, or instrumentality, or any other legal or commercial entity. See Michigan Laws 691.1332
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
  This act does not affect either of the following:
  (a) The professional responsibility obligations and standards applicable to a lawyer or other licensed professional.
  (b) The obligation of a person to report abuse or neglect, abandonment, or exploitation of a child or adult under the law of this state.
