Terms Used In Michigan Laws > Chapter 400 > Act 291 of 2012 - Voluntary Home Visitation Programs

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • County plat board: means the register of deeds, who shall act as chairperson, the county clerk, who shall act as secretary, and the county treasurer. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Departments: means the department of community health, the department of human services, and the department of education. See Michigan Laws 400.791
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Evidence-based program: means a home visitation program described in section 3. See Michigan Laws 400.791
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Governing body: means the legislative body of a city or village or the township board of a township. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Health department: means the department of environmental quality, a city health department, a county health department, or a district health department, whichever has jurisdiction. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Home visitation: means a voluntary service delivery strategy that is carried out in relevant settings, primarily in the homes of families with children ages 0 to 5 years and pregnant women. See Michigan Laws 400.791
  • Home visiting system: means the infrastructure and programs that support and provide home visitation. See Michigan Laws 400.791
  • in writing: shall be construed to include printing, engraving, and lithographing; except that if the written signature of a person is required by law, the signature shall be the proper handwriting of the person or, if the person is unable to write, the person's proper mark, which may be, unless otherwise expressly prohibited by law, a clear and classifiable fingerprint of the person made with ink or another substance.   • Municipality: means a township, city, or village. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Plat: means a map or chart of a subdivision of land. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Preliminary plat: means a map showing the salient features of a proposed subdivision submitted to an approving authority for purposes of preliminary consideration. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Promising program: means a home visitation program described in section 3. See Michigan Laws 400.791
  • Proprietor: means a natural person, firm, association, partnership, corporation, or combination of any of them that holds an ownership interest in land whether recorded or not. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
  • Surveyor: means a professional surveyor licensed under article 20 of the occupational code, 1980 PA 299, MCL 339. See Michigan Laws 560.102
