Terms Used In Missouri Laws 455.007

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
  • Full order of protection: an order of protection issued after a hearing on the record where the respondent has received notice of the proceedings and has had an opportunity to be heard. See Missouri Laws 455.010

Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the public interest exception to the mootness doctrine shall apply to an appeal of a full order of protection which has expired.
