1.  If such person was a resident of this State at the time of his or her disappearance, the district court of the county in which that residence was located shall have jurisdiction of all proceedings initiated under NRS 156.120 to 156.260, inclusive.

  • county: includes Carson City. See Nevada Revised Statutes 0.033
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • person: means a natural person, any form of business or social organization and any other nongovernmental legal entity including, but not limited to, a corporation, partnership, association, trust or unincorporated organization. See Nevada Revised Statutes 0.039
  • Personal property: All property that is not real property.
  • Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.

2.  If such person was a nonresident of this State, the district court in any county where any real property of the missing person is located, or of the county where any personal property is located, if there is no real property in the State, shall have jurisdiction in such proceedings.

3.  The title of all proceedings commenced and prosecuted under NRS 156.120 to 156.260, inclusive, shall be entitled ‘In the matter of the estate of ……………., a missing person.’
