Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 40:24-7

  • court: as used in this chapter means and includes the Superior Court, municipal court and any judge having the powers of a committing magistrate. See New Jersey Statutes 40:24-9
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
The court before which any violator of any such resolution is convicted may impose any fine or term of imprisonment not exceeding the maximum fixed in the resolution. In default of the payment of the fine imposed thereunder, a person convicted of a violation of any such resolution may, in the discretion of the court in which he was convicted, be imprisoned in the county jail for a term not exceeding ninety days.
