Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 40:27-6.13

  • certified mail: include private express carrier service, provided that the private express carrier service provides confirmation of mailing. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Whenever a hearing is required before a zoning board of adjustment or the governing body of a municipality in respect to the granting of a variance or establishing or amending an official municipal map involving property adjoining a county road or within 200 feet of an adjoining municipality, and notice of said hearing is required to be given, the person giving such notice shall also, at least 10 days prior to the hearing, give notice thereof in writing by certified mail to the county planning board. The notice shall contain a brief description of the property involved, its location, a concise statement of the matters to be heard and the date, time and place of such hearing.
