Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 40A:63-8.1

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 2. a. The governing body of any village, by ordinance, may create the office of assistant municipal administrator. The primary function of the assistant municipal administrator shall be to assist in the administration of the village under the direction of the municipal administrator. The position of assistant municipal administrator shall be an unclassified position in any village which has adopted the provisions of Title 11A, Civil Service, of the New Jersey Statutes.

b. During the absence or disability of the municipal administrator, the assistant municipal administrator shall have all the powers of the municipal administrator and shall perform the functions and duties of the municipal administrator.

c. The assistant municipal administrator shall be appointed by the village governing body. The assistant municipal administrator may be removed with or without cause by the village governing body.

d. The assistant municipal administrator shall receive the compensation as may from time to time be directed by the governing body by ordinance. The ordinance may provide that a person appointed to the position of assistant municipal administrator need not be a resident of the village.
