Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 40A:7-10

  • collector: when used in relation to the collection of taxes or water rents or other public assessments, includes all officers charged with the duty of collecting such taxes, water rents or assessments, unless a particular officer is specified. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
  • territory: extends to and includes any territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
All taxes for county purposes levied or assessed and uncollected in the annexed territory prior to the time when the annexation shall take effect shall be collected by the officer thereafter charged with the duty of collecting taxes in the territory and paid over to the collector of the county from which the territory was taken, and shall be divided according to the report of the committee.
