Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 40A:9-78.11

  • clerk: means the clerk of a municipality or of a board of chosen freeholders. See New Jersey Statutes 40A:1-1
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 4. When such a program has been authorized, the county clerk or register of deeds and mortgages, as appropriate, shall issue an identification card to any Gold Star Family Member who is a resident of the county. The Gold Star Family identification card shall display the words “Gold Star Family Member,” bear the true name and branch of the armed forces in which the person who lost his or her life while on active duty for the United States served, and other identifying information as certified by the applicant for the Gold Star Family identification card. Every application for a Gold Star Family identification card shall be signed and certified by the applicant and shall be supported by such documentary evidence as the county clerk or register of deeds and mortgages, as appropriate, may require.
