(a) Enlisted persons in the national guard may be transferred to or from units, organizations, departments, corps, and detachments, or otherwise, as provided under the laws and regulations of the United States pertaining to the national guard.

- in writing: include printing, engraving, lithographing, and photo-lithographing, and all other representations of words in letters of the usual form. See Rhode Island General Laws 43-3-16
- United States: include the several states and the territories of the United States. See Rhode Island General Laws 43-3-8
(b) In each case of transfer, the office of the adjutant general must be notified, in writing, by the officer granting the transfer.
