(a)  Before enforcing such lien, notice in writing shall be given to the customer either by delivering the notice personally or sending the notice by registered mail to the last known address of the customer. This notice shall state that a lien is being claimed for the damages set forth in or attached to such writing for manufacturing or fabrication work contracted or performed for the customer. This notice shall also include a demand for payment in a specific amount.

  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • in writing: include printing, engraving, lithographing, and photo-lithographing, and all other representations of words in letters of the usual form. See Rhode Island General Laws 43-3-16
  • Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.

(b)  If the molder has not been paid the amount due within sixty (60) days after the notice has been received by the customer as provided in § 34-30.1-2(1), the molder may sell the die, mold, form or pattern at a public auction and retain the proceeds.
