(a) Full faith and credit shall be accorded to liens arising in any other state or territory for cases of child or spousal support enforced by the Title IV-D child support enforcement agency of the other state or territory as a result of the circumstances of § 36-5-901(a) for all overdue support, as defined in the other state or territory, when that other state or territory agency or other entity complies with the procedural rules relative to the recording, filing or serving of liens that arise within this state.

Terms Used In Tennessee Code 36-5-902

  • Child: means an individual, whether over or under the age of majority, who is or is alleged to be owed a duty of support by the individual's parent or who is or is alleged to be the beneficiary of a support order directed to the parent. See Tennessee Code 36-5-2101
  • State: means a state of the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands, or any territory or insular possession under the jurisdiction of the United States. See Tennessee Code 36-5-2101
  • Support enforcement agency: means a public official, governmental entity, or private agency authorized to:
    (A) Seek enforcement of support orders or laws relating to the duty of support. See Tennessee Code 36-5-2101
(b) The department of human services may enforce the liens arising pursuant to this section by any means available for enforcement of its liens.
