(a) If a school district is unable to bring a district facility into compliance with a school facilities standard related to safety and security, the district may claim a good cause exception from the requirement to comply with that standard, including for a reason related to:
(1) the age, physical design, or location of the noncompliant facility;
(2) the projected remaining use or functional life of the noncompliant facility;
(3) availability of funding; or
(4) supply chain obstacles.
(b) A school district that claims a good cause exception under Subsection (a) must develop an alternative performance standard with which the district is able to comply.
