Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
Justice: when applied to a magistrate, means justice of the peace. See Texas Government Code 312.011
Local canvass: means the canvass of the precinct election returns. See Texas Election Code 1.005
