(a) A state agency or other state entity that possesses a state-owned item identified by the curator of the Capitol and the board as an item of historical significance that was at one time located in the Capitol or in the General Land Office Building shall transfer the item to the inventory of the board at the direction of the curator not later than the 60th day after the date that the curator notifies the agency or entity. The state agency or other state entity shall subsequently transfer physical possession of the item to the board in accordance with policies and procedures established by the board.
(b) An item that is in the Capitol office of a member of the legislature, that is transferred under Subsection (a), and that the board proposes to relocate may be relocated only to a place within the original dimensions of the Capitol building and only after the proposed relocation is approved by the chairman of the administration committee of the appropriate house of the legislature.
(c) This section does not apply to records or documents in the custody of the General Land Office or the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
