Terms Used In Utah Code 76-10-509.7
- Dangerous weapon: means :
(i) a firearm; or (ii) an object that in the manner of its use or intended use is capable of causing death or serious bodily injury. See Utah Code 76-10-501 - Firearm: means a pistol, revolver, shotgun, short barreled shotgun, rifle or short barreled rifle, or a device that could be used as a dangerous weapon from which is expelled a projectile by action of an explosive. See Utah Code 76-10-501
- Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.

76-10-509.7. Parent or guardian knowing of minor’s possession of dangerous weapon.
Any parent or guardian of a minor who knows that the minor is in possession of a dangerous weapon in violation of Section 76-10-509 or a firearm in violation of Section 76-10-509.4 and fails to make reasonable efforts to remove the dangerous weapon or firearm from the minor’s possession is guilty of a class B misdemeanor.Amended by Chapter 428, 2014 General Session
