(a) The governing board of any school district having jurisdiction over any elementary, intermediate, junior high, or high school may provide time and facilities to any local law enforcement agency having jurisdiction over the schools of the district, as well as to other organizations, as described in paragraph (1) of subdivision (a) of Section 38134, or public agencies that provide bicycle, scooter, electric bicycle, motorized bicycle, or motorized scooter safety instruction, for bicycle, scooter, electric bicycle, motorized bicycle, or motorized scooter safety instruction.

(b) For purposes of this section, the following definitions apply:

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

(1) “Electric bicycle” has the same meaning as in § 312.5 of the Vehicle Code.

(2) “Motorized bicycle” has the same meaning as in § 406 of the Vehicle Code.

(3) “Motorized scooter” has the same meaning as in § 407.5 of the Vehicle Code.
