Terms Used In Florida Statutes 703.17

  • Forgery: The fraudulent signing or alteration of another's name to an instrument such as a deed, mortgage, or check. The intent of the forgery is to deceive or defraud. Source: OCC
  • person: includes individuals, children, firms, associations, joint adventures, partnerships, estates, trusts, business trusts, syndicates, fiduciaries, corporations, and all other groups or combinations. See Florida Statutes 1.01
Any person or persons making any erasure, alteration, interlineation, or interpolation in any abstracts, copies, minutes, extracts, maps, or plats, or in any copies thereof filed in the clerk’s office under the provisions of ss. 703.09703.11 and 703.13703.15 shall be guilty of the crime of forgery.
