Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 40A:14-146.2a

  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Any person appointed to the position of housing guard or housing patrolman after the effective date of this 1985 amendatory and supplementary act shall be appointed to that position of employment after examination in accordance with the provisions of Title 11 of the Revised Statutes and shall hold that position of employment subject to and in accordance with the provisions of Title 11 of the Revised Statutes. In addition, these persons shall be citizens of the United States, sound in body and in good health, able to read, write and speak English, of good moral character and free of any conviction of an offense involving moral turpitude.
