The following definitions apply in this Part:

(1) ADM. – Average daily membership.

  • following: when used by way of reference to any section of a statute, shall be construed to mean the section next preceding or next following that in which such reference is made; unless when some other section is expressly designated in such reference. See North Carolina General Statutes 12-3
  • Local school administrative unit: means a subdivision of the public school system which is governed by a local board of education. See North Carolina General Statutes 115C-5

(2) NCVPS. – The North Carolina Virtual Public School program, as established by this Part.

(3) Nonpublic school student. – A student enrolled in a school that meets the requirements of Part 1, 2, or 3 of Article 39 of this Chapter as identified by the Division of Nonpublic Education, Department of Administration.

(4) Out-of-state student. – A student who is not qualified to be assigned to a public school in a local school administrative unit in North Carolina pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. § 115C-366 (2019-51, s. 2.1.)
