(a) If all of the individual parties reside in this state and the child does not reside in the issuing state, a tribunal of this state has jurisdiction to enforce and to modify the issuing state’s child support order in a proceeding to register that order.

Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 25.25.613

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
(b) A tribunal of this state exercising jurisdiction as provided in this section shall apply the provisions of Alaska Stat. § 25.25.10125.25.209 and 25.25.60125.25.614 to the enforcement or modification proceeding. Alaska Stat. § 25.25.30125.25.507, 25.25.70225.25.714, 25.25.801, and 25.25.802 do not apply, and the tribunal shall apply the procedural and substantive law of this state.
