Terms Used In 5 Guam Code Ann. § 35104

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
(a) Remedies provided by this Act are cumulative and do not affect the availability of remedies under other laws or the recognition of a foreign support order on the basis of comity.

(b) This Act does not:

(1) provide the exclusive method of establishing or enforcing a support order under the law of this state; or

(2) grant a tribunal of this state jurisdiction to render judgment or issue an order relating to child custody or visitation in a proceeding under this Act.
