Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 291C-174

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Traffic: means pedestrians, ridden or herded animals, vehicles, and other conveyances either singly or together while using any highway for purposes of travel. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 291C-1

If any provision of the state traffic laws is held for any reason invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of the state traffic laws.
