Terms Used In Idaho Code > Title 39 > Chapter 11 - Basic Day Care License

  • Board: means the Idaho board of health and welfare. See Idaho Code 39-1102
  • Child: means a person less than thirteen (13) years of age. See Idaho Code 39-1102
  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
  • Daycare: means care and supervision provided for compensation during part of a twenty-four (24) hour day, for a child or children not related by blood, marriage or legal guardianship to the person or persons providing the care, in a place other than the child’s or children’s own home or homes.   • Daycare facility: means a place or facility providing daycare services for compensation to seven (7) or more children not related to the provider. See Idaho Code 39-1102
  • Department: means the Idaho department of health and welfare. See Idaho Code 39-1102
  • Employee: means any person working for compensation in a facility that provides daycare. See Idaho Code 39-1102
  • Family daycare home: means a home, place, or facility providing daycare for six (6) or fewer children. See Idaho Code 39-1102
  • Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
  • Grace period: The number of days you'll have to pay your bill for purchases in full without triggering a finance charge. Source: Federal Reserve
  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • person: includes a corporation as well as a natural person;

  • Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
  • Property: includes both real and personal property. See Idaho Code 73-114
  • Prosecute: To charge someone with a crime. A prosecutor tries a criminal case on behalf of the government.
  • Ratio: means the number of staff required to supervise a certain number of children. See Idaho Code 39-1102
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories; and the words "United States" may include the District of Columbia and territories. See Idaho Code 73-114
  • Training: means continuing education in child development areas relating to child care. See Idaho Code 39-1102
