- Agriculture: means :
- The land, buildings and machinery used in the commercial production of farm products and nursery stock. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
- Applicant: means any person planning or proposing a project which has been designated a major energy project. See Tennessee Code 13-18-102
- Approval: means any permit, license, lease, certificate, right-of-way, or other grant, rate, ruling, or decision authorized or issued by an agency of state or local government. See Tennessee Code 13-18-102
- Board: means the board of trustees of an authority. See Tennessee Code 7-57-103
- chief legislative body: means the county legislative body. See Tennessee Code 7-57-103
- City: means the city or town which is, or is about to be, included in the territorial boundaries of an authority when created hereunder. See Tennessee Code 13-20-102
- City clerk: means county clerk. See Tennessee Code 13-20-501
- Commission: means the Tennessee equine health advisory commission, created by §. See Tennessee Code 43-13-102
- Commissioner: means one (1) of the members of an authority appointed in accordance with this chapter. See Tennessee Code 13-20-102
- Contact agency: means the department of economic and community development. See Tennessee Code 13-18-102
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Contract: means any agreement of an authority with or for the benefit of an obligee whether contained in a resolution, trust indenture, mortgage, lease, bond or other instrument. See Tennessee Code 13-20-102
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Council: means the legislative body, council, board of commissioners, board of trustees, or other body charged with governing the city. See Tennessee Code 13-20-102
- County mayor: means and includes "county executive" unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- Creating municipality: means any city or metropolitan government having a population of not less than two hundred thousand (200,000), according to the 1970 federal census or any subsequent federal census, or any county in which any such city shall be situated, that shall create an authority pursuant to this chapter. See Tennessee Code 7-57-103
- Department: means the department of agriculture. See Tennessee Code 43-13-102
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- Ex officio: Literally, by virtue of one's office.
- Executive officer: means the mayor, county mayor, or other chief executive officer of any creating or participating municipality. See Tennessee Code 7-57-103
- Governing body: means the chief legislative body of any creating or participating municipality. See Tennessee Code 7-57-103
- Government: includes the state and federal governments and any subdivision, agency or instrumentality, corporate or otherwise, of either of them. See Tennessee Code 13-20-102
- hospital authority: means a public body and a body corporate and public organized in accordance with this chapter for the purposes, with the powers, and subject to the restrictions set forth in this chapter. See Tennessee Code 7-57-103
- housing authority: means a public body and a body corporate and politic organized in accordance with this chapter for the purposes, with the powers, and subject to the restrictions, hereinafter set forth. See Tennessee Code 13-20-102
- Housing project: includes all real and personal property, buildings and improvements, stores, offices, lands for farming and gardening, and community facilities acquired or constructed or to be acquired or constructed pursuant to a single plan or undertaking, to:
- Demolish, clear, remove, alter or repair unsanitary or unsafe housing. See Tennessee Code 13-20-102
- Joint review process: means the process provided by §. See Tennessee Code 13-18-102
- Joint review staff: means those persons from involved agencies who are designated to staff the joint review team. See Tennessee Code 13-18-102
- Livestock: means all equine as well as animals that are being raised primarily for use as food or fiber for human utilization or consumption including, but not limited to, cattle, sheep, swine, goats, and poultry. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- Local government: means any government body, including any municipality, county, or utility district or any political subdivision of this state. See Tennessee Code 13-18-102
- Major energy project: means any project at one (1) physical location which has been determined by the contact agency to be in the state interest pursuant to its authority under §. See Tennessee Code 13-18-102
- mayor: means the clerk and mayor, respectively, of the city, or the officers thereof, charged with the duties customarily imposed on the clerk and mayor, respectively. See Tennessee Code 13-20-102
- Metropolitan government: means the political entity created by consolidation of all, or substantially all, of the political and corporate functions of a county and a city or cities. See Tennessee Code 7-1-101
- Municipality: means any city, town, or village or other municipality in the state. See Tennessee Code 13-20-102
- obligee: includes any bondholder, trustee or trustees for any bondholders, any lessor demising property to the authority used in connection with a housing project or any assignee or assignees of the lessor's interest or any part thereof, and the United States, when it is a party to any contract with the authority. See Tennessee Code 13-20-102
- Ordinance: means any ordinance adopted by governing bodies pursuant to this chapter. See Tennessee Code 7-57-103
- Participating municipality: means any city, town or county, which city, town or county, pursuant to a resolution of its governing body and an agreement with the creating municipality, shall have sold, leased, dedicated, donated or otherwise conveyed its hospitals to the authority for operation by the authority in order to make such hospital an operational part of its health care system. See Tennessee Code 7-57-103
- Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
- Record: means information that is inscribed on a tangible medium or that is stored in an electronic or other medium and is retrievable in a perceivable form. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- Resolution: means any resolution adopted by governing bodies pursuant to this chapter. See Tennessee Code 7-57-103
- schedule: means the timetable set out by the joint review team in which to accomplish the joint review process, submit applications, hold hearings, and obtain approval of involved agencies. See Tennessee Code 13-18-102
- State: means the state of Tennessee. See Tennessee Code 13-20-102
- State: means the state of Tennessee. See Tennessee Code 7-57-103
- team: means a coordinating group organized to conduct the joint review process on a major energy project. See Tennessee Code 13-18-102
- Team leader: means the state or local lead agency which is selected by the joint review team to lead the team and coordinate and supervise the joint review process. See Tennessee Code 13-18-102
- written: includes printing, typewriting, engraving, lithography, and any other mode of representing words and letters. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
