Terms Used In Indiana Code 31-16-17-9

  • Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
  • Verdict: The decision of a petit jury or a judge.
   Sec. 9. If the trial is by jury, the verdict of the jury must state only that the jury finds in favor of each party that should recover.
