Terms Used In Iowa Code 571.1B
- Harvester: means a person who performs harvesting services. See Iowa Code 571.1A
- Harvesting services: means baling, chopping, combining, cutting, husking, picking, shelling, stacking, threshing, or windrowing a crop, regardless of the means or method employed. See Iowa Code 571.1A
- Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
- lien: means the harvester's lien created in section 571. See Iowa Code 571.1A
- person: means individual, corporation, limited liability company, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership or association, or any other legal entity. See Iowa Code 4.1
A harvester shall have an agricultural lien as provided in section 554.9102 for the reasonable value of harvesting services. The harvester is a secured party and the person for whom the harvester renders such harvesting services is a debtor for purposes of chapter 554, article 9. The lien applies to crops harvested by the harvester.
