  • Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
  • Code: means the standards adopted by this act. See Kansas Statutes 75-1212
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Joint committee: Committees including membership from both houses of teh legislature. Joint committees are usually established with narrow jurisdictions and normally lack authority to report legislation.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
  • Manufacturer: means any person who manufactures mobile homes or recreational vehicles. See Kansas Statutes 75-1212
  • mobile home: means a structure, transportable in one or more sections, which has a body width of eight (8) feet or more and a body length of thirty-six (36) feet or more and which is built on a permanent chassis and designed to be used as a dwelling, with or without a permanent foundation, when connected to the required utilities, and includes the plumbing, heating, air-conditioning and electrical systems contained therein.   • Oversight: Committee review of the activities of a Federal agency or program.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Person: means an individual, partnership, corporation or other legal entity. See Kansas Statutes 75-1212
  • Property: includes personal and real property. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
  • Prosecute: To charge someone with a crime. A prosecutor tries a criminal case on behalf of the government.
  • Recreational vehicle: means a vehicular-type unit built on or for use on a chassis and designed primarily as living quarters for recreational, camping, vacation or travel use and which has its own motive power or is mounted on or drawn by another vehicle, and which has a body width not exceeding eight (8) feet and a body length not exceeding forty (40) feet; but such term shall not include a unit which has no electrical system which operates above twelve (12) volts and has no provisions for plumbing, heating and any other component or feature for which a standard is adopted by this act.   • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
  • Secretary: means the secretary of administration. See Kansas Statutes 75-1226
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
  • Tie down: means any device designed for the purpose of anchoring a mobile home to ground anchors;

    (b) "Ground anchor" means any device designed to secure a mobile home to the ground;

    (c) "Pier" means one of the structural supports required by this act for a mobile home which is not secured to the ground on a permanent foundation;

    (d) "Roof protector" means a device designed to prevent over-the-top tie downs from damaging or penetrating the roof material; and

    (e) "Mobile home" shall have the meaning ascribed to it by Kan. See Kansas Statutes 75-1226
