Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:4120

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.

The power conferred by La. Rev. Stat. 33:4106 to La. Rev. Stat. 33:4119, inclusive, shall not be exercised unless and until House Bill No. 232, which became Act 540 of the 1958 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature proposing an amendment to La. Const. Art. XIV by adding thereto new sections to be designated La. Rev. Stat. 33:4097 to 33:4105, inclusive, shall have been submitted to and approved by electors at an election to be held on the first Tuesday next following the first Monday in November, 1958, in the manner provided by the constitution.

Any provision of the constitution or any law in conflict herewith is hereby repealed.  Should any provision be declared null and void, such declaration shall not affect the balance of this amendment.
