  • Administrator: means the state treasurer. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:766
  • Apparent owner: means a person whose name appears on the records of a holder as the person entitled to property held, issued, or owed by the holder. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:766
  • Bonds: means any debt obligations issued by any governmental unit, as hereinafter defined, and shall include, but not by way of limitation, the following: bonds, refunding bonds, notes, and certificates payable from and secured by (a) ad valorem and other taxes, (b) other revenues from whatever source derived, and (c) local or special assessments. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:153
  • Business association: means a corporation, joint stock company, investment company, partnership, unincorporated association, joint venture, limited liability company, business trust, trust company, savings and loan association, building and loan association, savings bank, industrial bank, land bank, safe deposit company, safekeeping depository, bank, banking organization, financial organization, insurance company, mutual fund, credit union, utility, or other business entity consisting of one or more persons, whether or not for profit. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:766
  • Commission: means the Louisiana Workforce Commission. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 39:98.1
  • disclosure: means the release of information or data with the consent, as indicated by a signed consent form, of the individual or individuals to whom the information pertains by either the division of unemployment insurance or the housing authority. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 9:5804
  • Domicile: means the state of incorporation of a corporation and the state of the principal place of business of a holder other than a corporation. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:766
  • Executive director: means the executive director of the commission. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 39:98.1
  • Governing authority: means the governing authority of a parish or parishes having a youth center or a juvenile detention center authority. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 15:1099.2
  • Holder: means a person obligated to hold for the account of, or deliver or pay to, the owner of property that is subject to this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:766
  • HUD: means the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 9:5804
  • Information: means wage record and unemployment compensation information. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 9:5804
  • Insurable interest: as used in this Chapter means any lawful and substantial economic interest in the safety or preservation of the subject of the insurance free from loss, destruction, or pecuniary damage. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:1395.2
  • Insurance company: means an association, corporation, or fraternal or mutual benefit organization, whether or not for profit, engaged in the business of providing insurance including accident, burial, casualty, credit life, contract performance, dental, fidelity, fire, health, hospitalization, illness, life insurance, life endowments and annuities, malpractice, marine, mortgage, surety, and wage protection insurance. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:766
  • Louisiana Workforce Commission: means the Louisiana Workforce Commission and its subdivisions, including the office of unemployment insurance administration, or its successor. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 9:5804
  • Mineral: means gas, oil, coal, other gaseous liquid and solid hydrocarbons, oil shale, cement material, sand and gravel, road material, building stone, chemical substance, gemstone, fissionable and nonfissionable ores, colloidal and other clay, steam and other geothermal resource, or any other substance defined as a mineral by the law of this state.   • Mineral proceeds: means amounts payable for the extraction, production, or sale of minerals, or, upon the abandonment of those payments, all payments that become payable thereafter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:766
  • Money order: includes an express money order and a personal money order, on which the remitter is the purchaser. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:766
  • Owner: means a person who has a legal or equitable interest in property subject to this Chapter or the person's legal representative. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:766
  • Parish: means a parish in which a youth center is sited. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 15:1099.2
  • Participating housing authority: means a housing authority that has entered into a cooperative agreement with the state Louisiana Workforce Commission. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 9:5804
  • Participating parish: means any parish which has entered into a participation agreement with a parish having a youth center by which certain space within the center is subleased to house juveniles from the participating parish. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 15:1099.2
  • person: includes a body of persons, whether incorporated or not. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2021
  • Person: means an individual, business association, estate, trust, partnership, government, governmental subdivision, agency, or instrumentality, public corporation, or any other legal or commercial entity. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:766
  • police jury: means the governing authority of the various parishes. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 17:1519.14
  • Property: means a fixed and certain interest in intangible property that is held, issued, or owed in the course of a holder's business, or by a government or governmental entity, and all income or increments therefrom. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:766
  • Record: means information that is inscribed on a tangible medium or that is stored in an electronic or other medium and is retrievable in perceivable form. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:766
  • State: means a state of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or any territory or insular possession subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:766
  • taxidermist: means a person who, for a consideration, mounts, preserves, or otherwise prepares the body of any bird, animal, or fish, or any part thereof, for display. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:952
  • Unemployment compensation information: means unemployment compensation claim or payment information from the administrator of the Louisiana Employment Security Law. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 9:5804
  • unit: means the insurance fraud investigation unit within the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, office of state police. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:247
  • Wage record: means wage record information reported to the state by employers on a quarterly basis as provided in R. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 9:5804
