  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.      The board of a school district other than a first class school district shall insure school district property unless otherwise directed by the school electors. The governing board of a public school academy shall insure public school academy property. The insurance may be obtained from mutual, stock, or other responsible companies licensed to do business in this state.
