     The board of a school district may use general funds to provide the necessary personnel, equipment, supplies, and food to furnish meals for regularly enrolled pupils, and may accept produce and financial reimbursement from the state to supplement the resources of the district. The board may provide the meal program by contract or it may engage directly in the business. The board may charge a fee for each meal furnished in accordance with section 1272a to 1272d.
