Subdivision 1.Petty misdemeanors.

Courts which heretofore have had jurisdiction over misdemeanors have the same jurisdiction over petty misdemeanors.

Subd. 2.Limitation.

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

The period for commencing an action against any person for a petty misdemeanor shall be the same as that for a misdemeanor.
