  • action: as used in this chapter , is to be construed, whenever it is necessary to do so, as including a special proceeding of a civil nature. See Montana Code 27-2-101
  • Claim: means a right of action that may be asserted in a civil action or proceeding and includes a right of action created by statute. See Montana Code 27-2-502
  • State: means a state, commonwealth, territory, or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, a foreign country, or a political subdivision of any of them. See Montana Code 27-2-502
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
  • Statute of limitations: A law that sets the time within which parties must take action to enforce their rights.
  • United States: includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Montana Code 1-1-201
