Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 56:8-100

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 3. a. Any dealer who prepares, distributes, sells or exposes for sale any food represented to be halal, shall disclose the basis upon which that representation is made by posting the information required by the director, pursuant to regulations adopted pursuant to the authority provided in section 4 of P.L.1960, c.39 (C. 56:8-4), on a sign of a type and size specified by the director in a conspicuous place upon the premises at which the food is sold or exposed for sale as required by the director.

b. It shall be an unlawful practice for any person to violate the requirements of subsection a. of this section.
