(a)  Accreditation from a national organization acceptable to the director may be required, at the discretion of the director, in lieu of an annual survey by the department.

Terms Used In Rhode Island General Laws 23-17-57

  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • Director: means the director of the Rhode Island state department of health. See Rhode Island General Laws 23-17-2
  • Podiatry ambulatory-surgery center: means an office or portion of an office that is utilized for the purpose of furnishing surgical services to the owner and/or operator's own patients on an ambulatory basis, and shall include both single-practice, podiatry ambulatory-surgery centers and multi-practice podiatry ambulatory-surgery centers. See Rhode Island General Laws 23-17-2

(b)  The provisions of subsection (a) shall not limit in any way the prerogatives of the director to inspect any podiatry ambulatory-surgery center at any reasonable time, whether for purpose of general survey or for complaint investigation. The director has access to all records of the licensed podiatry ambulatory-surgery center including medical records.

(c)  Single practice podiatry ambulatory-surgery centers as defined in § 23-17-2(18) are exempt from the requirements of chapter 15 of this title.

(d)  Single practice podiatry ambulatory-surgery centers as defined in § 23-17-2(18) are exempt from the provisions of § 23-17-14.3 and § 23-17-14.4 with respect to initial licensure under this chapter.
