(a) A person may not distribute within 500 feet of a court with jurisdiction over an offense to which Article 45.0511, Code of Criminal Procedure, applies written information that advertises a driving safety provider.

Terms Used In Texas Education Code 1001.453
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005
- Rule: includes regulation. See Texas Government Code 311.005
- Written: includes any representation of words, letters, symbols, or figures. See Texas Government Code 311.005
(a) A person may not distribute within 500 feet of a court with jurisdiction over an offense to which Subchapter H, Chapter 45A, Code of Criminal Procedure, applies written information that advertises a driving safety provider.
(b) The department may revoke the license of a driving safety provider if the provider or the provider’s agent, employee, or representative violates this section.
(c) This section does not apply to distribution of information:
(1) by a court; or
(2) to a court to advise the court of the availability of the course or to obtain approval of the course.
(d) Subchapter F, Chapter 51, Occupations Code, and § 51.353, Occupations Code, do not apply to a violation of this section or a rule adopted under this section.
(e) § 51.352, Occupations Code, and Sections 1001.455(a)(6) and 1001.554 of this code do not apply to a violation of this section.
