Terms Used In Texas Education Code 25.042

  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
  • Justice: when applied to a magistrate, means justice of the peace. See Texas Government Code 312.011

A school-age child of an employee of a facility of the Texas Juvenile Justice Department is entitled to attend school in a school district adjacent to the district in which the student resides free of any charge to the student’s parents or guardian. Any tuition charge required by the admitting district shall be paid by the district from which the student transfers out of any funds appropriated to the facility.
