- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
The board may issue:
(1) anticipation notes under Chapter 1431, Government Code; and
(2) certificates of obligation under Subchapter C, Chapter 271, Local Government Code.
