(1) The operator of a vehicle facing a traffic-control signal placed to control individual lane use shall obey the signal as follows:

- Operator: means :(49)(a) a human driver, as defined in Section
Utah Code 41-6a-102 - Traffic: means pedestrians, ridden or herded animals, vehicles, and other conveyances either singly or together while using any highway for the purpose of travel. See Utah Code 41-6a-102
- Traffic-control signal: means a device, whether manually, electrically, or mechanically operated, by which traffic is alternately directed to stop and permitted to proceed. See Utah Code 41-6a-102
- Vehicle: means a device in, on, or by which a person or property is or may be transported or drawn on a highway, except a mobile carrier, as defined in Section
41-6a-1120 , or a device used exclusively on stationary rails or tracks. See Utah Code 41-6a-102(1)(a) Green signal — vehicular traffic may travel in any lane over which a green signal is shown.(1)(b) Steady yellow signal — vehicular traffic is warned that a lane control change is being made.(1)(c) Steady red signal — vehicular traffic may not enter or travel in any lane over which a red signal is shown.(1)(d) Flashing yellow signal — vehicular traffic may use the lane only for the purpose of approaching and making a left turn.
(2) A violation of this section is an infraction.
