  • Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
  • Preceding: when used by way of reference to any statute section, means the section next preceding that in which the reference is made. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01
  • Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed; "year" alone means "year of our Lord". See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01
   (1)    In this section, “number of pupils enrolled” has the meaning given in s. 121.90 (1) (intro.) and includes 40 percent of the summer enrollment. “Number of pupils enrolled” does not include pupils described in the exception under s. 121.90 (1) (f).
   (2)   
      (a)    Except as provided in par. (b), annually on the 4th Monday of March, the department shall pay to each school district an amount equal to the average of the number of pupils enrolled in the school district in the current and 2 preceding school years multiplied by $75 in the 2013-14 school year, by $150 in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years, by $250 in the 2016-17 school year, by $450 in the 2017-18 school year, by $654 in the 2018-19 school year, by $679 and $63 in each school year thereafter. The department shall make the payments from the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (aq).
      (b)   
         1.    The department shall make the payment under par. (a) for the 2015-16 school year on the 2nd Monday of July 2016.
         2.    The department shall consider the amount paid from s. 20.255 (2) (aq) under subd. 1. to be money appropriated to s. 20.255 (2) (aq) in the 2015-16 school year for purposes of calculating the change in the amount of statewide categorical aid per pupil under s. 118.40 (2r) (e) 2p. from the 2014-15 school year to the 2015-16 school year, from the 2015-16 school year to the 2016-17 school year, and from the 2016-17 school year to the 2017-18 school year.
