A court with jurisdiction over a court support order may modify an obligor‘s duty to pay a support payment that becomes due after notice of a petition to modify the court support order has been given to each obligee and to the obligor before a final order concerning the petition for modification is entered.

Terms Used In Ohio Code 3119.84

  • Court support order: means either a court child support order or an order for the support of a spouse or former spouse issued pursuant to Chapter 3115 of the Revised Code, section 3105. See Ohio Code 3119.01
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Obligee: means the person who is entitled to receive the support payments under a support order. See Ohio Code 3119.01
  • Obligor: means the person who is required to pay support under a support order. See Ohio Code 3119.01
  • Support order: means either an administrative child support order or a court support order. See Ohio Code 3119.01
